Characteristics of silicon carbide crucible

Silicon carbide crucible

Silicon carbide crucible is famous for its high volume density, high temperature resistance, fast heat transfer, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high high temperature strength, and strong oxidation resistance. The service life of silicon carbide crucible is 3-5 times longer than that of ordinary graphite crucible. It is an ideal kiln accessory for various powder sintering, metal smelting and other industrial kilns in metallurgy, chemical industry, glass and other fields.

When using silicon carbide crucibles, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Do not fill the silicon carbide crucible too full with melt to prevent splashing, and allow air to enter and exit freely to cause possible oxidation reactions.
  2. The silicon carbide crucible has a small bottom and generally needs to be placed on a clay triangle for direct heating. The crucible can be placed flat or tilted on an iron tripod, depending on the requirements of the experiment.
  3. After heating, do not place the silicon carbide crucible immediately on a cold metal table to avoid cracking due to rapid cooling. Likewise, do not place it on a wooden table top to avoid burning it or causing a fire. The correct approach is to place it on an iron tripod to cool naturally or place it on an asbestos net to cool gradually.

In summary, the unique properties of silicon carbide crucibles make them indispensable in a variety of industrial applications, and following correct usage guidelines ensures their longevity and safety.
