High Temperature Performance of Silicon Carbide Crucibles

Graphite silicon carbide crucible

Silicon carbide crucibles are known for their excellent high temperature performance and are able to withstand extremely high operating temperatures. Generally, high-quality silicon carbide crucibles can operate safely and stably in the temperature range of 1600°C to 2200°C (2912°F to 3992°F), and some specially designed and treated crucibles can even withstand temperatures up to 2700°C (4952°F).

In practical applications in high-temperature experiments or production processes such as metal smelting and ceramic sintering, the specific working temperature of silicon carbide crucible needs to be determined based on specific process requirements, atmospheric conditions and the chemical properties of the material. Additionally, proper operating procedures must be followed to prevent the crucible from cracking or being damaged due to rapid changes in temperature.

Although silicon carbide crucibles can withstand high temperatures, it is important to avoid exceeding their maximum operating temperature to prevent damage to the material or the appearance of impurities. Proper cooling procedures should be followed after use to prevent cracking when placed on colder surfaces, and care should be taken to avoid excessive physical impact during use to prevent damage.
