Preheat treatment before use

When using new silicon carbide crucibles, proper preheating is critical to prevent them from cracking due to thermal shock.  The purpose of preheating is to dehumidify the crucible.  Specific steps are as follows:

 

Initial warm-up

Place the new crucible near an oil stove for 4-5 hours or burn charcoal in the crucible for about 4 hours to remove moisture.

Gradually heat

0°C-200°C: slowly heat for 4 hours

200-300: Heat slowly for 1 hour

300-800: slowly heat for 4 hours

300-400: slowly heat for 4 hours

400-600: rapid heating and maintenance for 2 hours

Furnace preheating

After the furnace is shut down, slow and fast heating is performed according to the type of oil or electric furnace to ensure that the crucible reaches the best condition before official use.
